Description

Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Retriever / Mixed (medium coat). Please contact Paul Slebzak (paulsluckydoganimalrescue) for more information about this pet. Good boy looking for his forever home! NACHO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Nacho Best Guess for Breed: Lab mix Best Guess for Age: 5 years as of March 2026 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 73 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Nacho is Looking For: Nacho is a Lab mix with a tan coat and a big, goofy smile that’s hard to resist. She’s at a great age — past the puppy stage and in her prime as an adult, full of life and personality. Nacho enjoys spending time with her people, whether that’s heading out for some fresh air or relaxing at home. She has a fun, lighthearted nature and brings a cheerful presence wherever he goes. Her easygoing personality helps her settle in nicely, and she’s happiest when she’s included in the day-to-day routine. What My Foster Says About Me: Nacho is the sweetest girl. She is very affectionate towards humans and respectful around dogs (even my grumpy 9yo dog). She does the happiest tail wagging when she gets pets and will even roll over and let you pet her belly. She does great on leash and doesn't pull or have any reactivity though she did perk up when she saw a rabbit on a recent walk. She hasn't had any accidents in the home and has pawed the door a few times to indicate she needs to go out. She is perfect in the crate and doesn't make a peep, in fact I haven't heard her bark at all though she will whine sometimes. She has been hesitant about my stairs and not sure if she just isn't used to stairs or not. She'll go up and down begrudgingly if I have her leashed but hasn't really tried them on her own. She doesn't seem to be the biggest fan of kibble for meals, but seems to be food motivated and has been scarfing it down if I add a little bit of wet food mixed in with the kibble. Heartworm information: Nacho is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but has been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.
