Description
Dog Breed: Scottish Terrier Scottie / Schnauzer / Mixed (long coat). Adoption Fee: 350. RICHIE is an adorable little floofy boy. He is fun, cute and affectionate. What breed? We have a wide array of guesses! Scottish Terrier? Schnauzer? Cockapoo? We have no clue. But whatever the mix, he is absolutely adorable. Richie is about 2 years old and fully grown at 19 pounds. He's a sweet, friendly little guy who loves to make new friends. He has a long and low body style and a gorgeous long coat that will require regular upkeep. If you'd like to meet Richie, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Richie at our weekly adoption event, Saturday 11:30-1:30 at PetSmart Eastgate if he's still available. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
