Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Black Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat). Kody is a 3-year-old male Shepherd/Black Lab mix who has already been neutered. He is black with just a little bit of white on his hind feet. Handsome Kody is a large dog who weighs 58 pounds; and he still needs to gain some weight. He has a sweet and affectionate temperament; and would be good with other dogs and children. He is leash trained, crate trained, and working hard on becoming house trained. Kody is shy when he first meets you but quickly becomes your new best friend. He will be a wonderful family dog. Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75. All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter. Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under "special needs" our dogs have screened heart worm negative.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
