Description
Dog Breed: Hound / Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Blossom is a lovely hound mix who came to us after being picked up as a stray by the county shelter. At the time, she was pregnant—and just five days later, she gave birth to nine precious puppies. Wanting the very best for this devoted mom and her newborns, the shelter reached out to Pet Rescue By Judy, and we were happy to make room for the entire little family. When the puppies were only a few days old, Blossom and her babies made their way to our center, where our staff has been caring for them ever since. Blossom has proven to be a wonderful and attentive mom, lovingly tending to her puppies and making sure they have everything they need. Despite having her paws full, Blossom still shows her playful, youthful side. She loves to run around with a toy in her mouth, clearly hoping someone will join in on the fun. Blossom is a young mom with a sweet, happy spirit, and she’s been doing an amazing job balancing motherhood with playtime.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
