Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Mya is our super sweet senior looking for a new forever home. She had to bounce around a couple times before finding her way to us, but she is now ready to find a new family to settle down with and live out the rest of her golden years! We haven’t had the chance to have a play group yet but she seems happy to see other dogs on leash. She would love to go for daily walks with her new people and she already does great on leash! This pretty lady would be perfectly content being a couch potato with you and the family and would surely make a great new loyal companion. The dogs are in fact living in a kennel environment during their time with us. Even if they have previously lived in a home and been trained - the stress of the change and the new home can sometimes cause regression and require some additional training. All animals come spayed/neutered, UTD on vaccines, and microchipped. If the animals age or health prevents any of these from being completed prior to adoption a voucher is issued for the services to be performed. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
