He is just over a year old. This confident, happy-go-lucky little guy loves life and everyone in it. He absolutely adores other dogs and wants to be friends with every pup he meets—big or small. Roger is just as affectionate with people and greets his humans with full-body wiggles every time they walk through the door. Once he knows you, he’s all about the love and cuddles. Roger is smart, food-motivated, and eager to learn. He already knows sit, paw, and wait, and is currently working on down and spin. Like most puppies, he’s still learning his potty manners, but he’s doing great with a consistent routine and belly bands while inside. This little guy enjoys his crate—especially when it’s cozy and covered—and settles in nicely at night or when you need to step out. During the day, though, Roger would much rather be right by your side… preferably curled up in your lap. His favorite position is upside-down like a baby, snoozing happily while soaking up all the cuddles. Roger enjoys walks and does well on leash. He doesn’t pull, but he’s still working on his puppy manners and occasionally likes to weave around his human as he explores the world. He’s generally a quiet pup, but he will politely let you know if he thinks he deserves a little more attention. If you’re looking for a tiny companion with a huge heart, Roger might just be your perfect match. He is microchipped and up to date on all his vaccines. His adoption fee is $300. All Second Chance Dog Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, are up to date on vaccines and have microchips prior to adoption. Adoption fees vary depending on age of dog. Fees help Second Chance Dog Rescue cover spay/neuter costs, vaccinations, medical treatments, food and supplies. Please go to .secondchancedogrescue and complete an application today! All dogs live in private foster homes until they are adopted.

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
