Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Who is looking for their next best friend? Check is the kind of puppy people dream of finding. A terrier mix at only 9 weeks old, he’s already mastered “sit,” and is doing fantastic with potty training when kept on a schedule. He’s smart, affectionate, and surprisingly well-mannered for such a young puppy. This sweet boy LOVES mealtime and will run straight to his crate and sit patiently waiting for his food to be served. Check has the perfect balance of playful and calm. He loves chasing toys and playing fetch, but he’s also perfectly happy entertaining himself with a toy nearby. When playtime is over and Check gets sleepy, he’ll either wander into his crate for a nap or curl up right on your lap. He absolutely adores other dogs and is just as happy playing with our resident dog as he is simply laying beside her. He’s wonderful with kids, does great on car rides, and is happiest when he’s close to his people. Bedtime is his 2nd favorite, runner up to meal time of course. He loves to sleep snuggling right next to you (or directly on top of you, if he can manage it) because he simply wants to be close and feel loved. Check has spent most of his time with his people and hasn’t needed to be crated much during the day or overnight yet, so his forever family will be able to guide him through crate training in a way that fits their routine. For such a young puppy, Check is surprisingly calm and easygoing. He’s affectionate, smart, and has that sweet little personality that makes you fall in love instantly. If you’re looking for a best friend who will follow you around, snuggle up close, and grow up loving you endlessly, lover boy Check is your dog! Some family out there is going to be very lucky to have him as their companion. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
