Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $40. Hi, I’m Presley, and yes… I am accepting applications for my forever family. I’m a 4-year-old, 43-lb lady with a friendly personality, and excellent taste in friends (I get along great with other dogs, in case you were wondering). I’m past the wild puppy phase, but I still enjoy playtime, snacks, and reminding people how pretty I am. It’s all about balance. Good news for my future family — my adoption fee is sponsored and reduced to just $40. That covers me being spayed, rabies vaccine, distemper/parvo vaccine, vet exam, fecal test for parasites, general dewormer, and a microchip. Basically, I come fully upgraded and ready to go home. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics.
