Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: $40. Hi, I’m Dee Dee, and I’ve been told I should introduce myself in a professional manner… but honestly, I’m just a 2-year-old, 42-lb sweetheart looking for a family to take me home. I’m friendly, easy to get along with, and I enjoy the company of other dogs. I’m past the tiny puppy stage but still young enough to be playful, fun, and ready for whatever adventures you have in mind (or naps… naps are also great). My adoption fee is sponsored and reduced to just $40, and that covers me being spayed, rabies vaccine, distemper/parvo vaccine, vet exam, fecal test for parasites, general dewormer, and a microchip. In other words, I’m all set and ready to walk out the door with my new family. If you think I sound like the kind of girl who belongs at your house, call 256-362-5856 to schedule an appointment to meet me. — Dee Dee (sweet, ready to go, and patiently waiting for my people)

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
