Description
Dog Breed: Labrador Retriever / Pointer / Mixed. Meet Wafer! Wafer is a sweet 9-month-old 21 lb pup with a heart as big as her adorable floppy ears. Wafer is likely a Labrador/Pointer mix and will probably stay on the smaller side of the typical size for those breeds, making her a wonderful medium-sized companion. Wafer is very social and gets along wonderfully with other dogs and even cats! This friendly girl also absolutely loves people and greets everyone she meets with a happy tail wag and a bright smile. She’s also a fantastic passenger in the car and is always happy to join you for rides and adventures. This smart girl is crate trained and is doing great while continuing to work on her house training. Like most young pups, she’s still learning, but she’s eager to please and making good progress every day. Wafer would love a home where she can get plenty of love, playtime, and companionship. Whether it’s going for walks, playing with furry friends, or simply curling up near her people, Wafer is happiest when she’s part of the family. If you’re looking for a loving, friendly, and joyful companion, Wafer might just be your perfect match. Applications can be filled out at .piedmontanimalrescue/adopt! Breed overview
Overview:
The Lab-Pointer, a charming crossbreed of the Labrador Retriever and Pointer, originated from the desire to combine the best qualities of both parent breeds. Physically, they are typically medium to large dogs, showcasing a athletic build, often with a short, dense coat in various colors like black, yellow, chocolate, or liver, and sometimes the distinctive Pointer markings. Their temperament is generally a delightful blend: intelligent, loyal, and eager to please like the Lab, combined with the Pointer's alert and energetic nature. This makes them highly trainable, though they do require consistent exercise and mental stimulation to prevent boredom. While affectionate and good with children, their energy levels mean they are best suited for active families with a yard, rather than small apartments. Prospective owners should be aware of potential health concerns inherited from either parent, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, eye conditions, and certain cancers, making responsible breeding and regular vet check-ups crucial for their well-being.
