Description
Dog Breed: Shepherd / Hound / Mixed. sweet boy ISO fresh start and love! HATCHI NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Hatchi Best Guess for Breed: Shepherd and hound mix Best Guess for Age: 4.5 years as of March 2026 SEX: Male Approximate Weight: 55 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters! Currently Living at: DC area foster home Hatchi is Looking For: This handsome guy landed in the shelter through no fault of his own. He is eagerly looking ahead to his new one. The one where he once again has his own humans for long sniffy walks and romps and all the adventures they can dream up. He's well out of the puppy yips and is in his prime as an adult dog, so he knows what's most important in life: being safe and loved and under his own roof. In exchange, he promises loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see him by your side? What My Foster Says About Me: Hatchi has a super sweet and chill personality. He gets along very well with dogs of all sizes and was great with little children petting him at the event. You can tell he likely lived in a house before as he was the perfect house guest and knew what he could and could not play with. He can get a bit overwhelmed with large crowds at the adoption events and any major changes like coming to our new home, but we gave him time to decompress and get used to his surroundings and he came out of his shell within a couple days. He is very much a velcro dog and liked to follow me from room to room. He is not super high energy and can relax on the couch while being up for a walk from time to time. I think anyone would be super lucky to adopt this wonderful boy into their family. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training. TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
