Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier (medium coat). Hi! Iâve got one speed most of the time: GO! Seriously, if life had a zoom button, Iâd be pressing it with both paws. I wake up ready to run, bounce, wiggle, and say hello to absolutely everyone. My tail doesnât just wag... it turns into a full-body wiggle machine. If you like a dog with personality, excitement, and a little bit of chaos⦠well, congratulations, you just found me. I love attention. Like, really love it. Pet me, talk to me, throw a ball, let me show you my zoomies. Iâm happiest when Iâm with people. Now, Iâll be honest with you. Iâve got a lot of energy and sometimes my brain moves a little slower than my legs. I get so excited about everything that I forget my manners. Thatâs why Iâd really benefit from someone who can help me learn some training and give me plenty of exercise. Walks, runs, games, learning tricks... those things help me focus and be the best dog I can be. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
