Description
Dog Breed: Mastiff. Meet Monte Monte and his brother Mojo found themselves in the shelter in the city of San Bernardino after being picked up as strays. Both boys were struggling with pneumonia and also had cherry eye, a surgery many people are hesitant to take on due to the cost. Sadly, that meant their chances of making it out of the shelter were very slim. Thankfully Monte got his second chance. He is now healthy, feeling great, and ready for his cherry eye surgery and—most importantly—ready to find his forever home. Monte is a sweet boy who loves going for walks and enjoys a good cuddle with his people. He does best in playgroups with one or two other dogs, preferably females. Monte is a little under-socialized and would thrive in a home that will continue helping him experience the world—more walks, outings, and positive social time. He’s truly a diamond in the rough and with the right guidance will blossom into an incredible companion. Monte is about 1½–2 years old and is looking for a home experienced with large, powerful breeds that understands the needs of dogs like him. Put in your application and come meet Monte today — your new best friend may be waiting. Overview:
The Mastiff, an ancient and noble breed, boasts a history stretching back millennia, often linked to the Molosser dogs of antiquity. Renowned for their immense size, these gentle giants are characterized by their powerful, muscular build, broad head, and short, dense coat typically seen in fawn, apricot, or brindle. Despite their imposing appearance, Mastiffs are famous for their remarkably calm and gentle temperament, making them surprisingly affectionate and devoted companions. They generally get along well with children and other pets, provided they are properly socialized from a young age. While their size might suggest a need for vast spaces, their relatively low energy levels mean they can adapt to apartment living if given regular, moderate exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, bloat, and eye conditions, necessitating responsible breeding and veterinary care. Their loyalty and protective instincts, combined with their loving nature, make the Mastiff a truly magnificent addition to the right family.
