Description

Dog Breed: Jack Russell Terrier. Rocky is 9 months old and weighs about 20 pounds, with a little extra “chunky monkey” charm. He’s very sweet, quiet, and naturally submissive. Rocky came from a breeder situation where there were simply too many dogs for the owner to care for properly. Despite that start, he is incredibly loving and peopleoriented. He enjoys being held, seeks out affection, and is adjusting beautifully to normal home life. Like many dogs from overcrowded environments, he may be cautious at first, but he warms up quickly with kindness and consistency. We are working on housetraining; he loves going outside and exploring the yard — something he didn’t have the chance to do before. Rocky currently uses a pet door in his foster home for potty breaks, which has helped him understand that potty happens outdoors. Even without a pet door, this foundation makes his transition easier, but he will still need patience, supervision, and continued training as he learns your home and routine. WHAT HE COMES WITH: • Vetchecked • Ageappropriate vaccinations • Dewormed • Heartworm & flea preventatives • Neutered • Microchipped ADOPTION FEE & DEPOSIT: A $50 refundable deposit is required to place a temporary hold until your adoption appointment. If you meet Rocky and decide not to adopt, your deposit is fully refunded. Adoption fee: $450 ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS: • A fully fencedin backyard suitable for a small/medium dog • An adult home during the day with time for a young puppy • No crating — adopters must use an approved puppy playpen • Children age 7+ (younger considered casebycase) • Homes with no dogs or up to one small/medium dog

A.K.A.: JRT, Shorty Jack, English Jack Russell Terrier, Irish Jack Russell Terrier, Miniature Jack Russell Terrier, Hunt Terrier, Jack Russell, Working Terrier, Russell Terrier, Parson Russell Terrier
Overview:

The Jack Russell Terrier is a small, energetic dog breed originating from England in the mid-1800s, specifically bred by Reverend John Russell for fox hunting. These compact canines are easily recognized by their sturdy, muscular build, typically weighing between 13-17 pounds, with a height of 10-15 inches at the shoulder. Their coats can be smooth, broken, or rough, predominantly white with black, tan, or tricolor markings. Known for their spirited and confident temperament, Jack Russells are highly intelligent but can also be quite stubborn, requiring consistent training and ample mental stimulation. While devoted to their families, their high energy levels and strong prey drive make them better suited for active households with secure outdoor spaces rather than small apartments. They can thrive with children if properly socialized, though supervision is always advised due to their boisterous play. Generally healthy, they can be prone to certain genetic conditions such as patellar luxation, Legg-Calve-Perthes disease, and some eye disorders, making responsible breeding crucial.
