Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Cattle Dog. Hello, my name is Lucy, and I am ready to go home with you! I may seem a little timid initially, but if you are kind and gentle, I am very quick to warm up. When I am acting myself, I am a little spitfire with lots of energy! I love running, bouncing around, and trying to give you endless kisses. Want to go for walks? So do I! Although I enjoy my play sessions, I also love a good cuddle and am eager to be your loyal companion for life. Even though I may seem like a bundle of energy myself, I am still easily overwhelmed by other rowdy dogs and would do best as an only-dog household, or with a fellow dog that is respectful of my boundaries. If you're interested in getting to know my loving and rambunctious little self, then please call the Behavior Department at (831) 708-5842 to learn more and schedule an appointment. I look forward to meeting you!

Overview:
The Chihuahua, a captivating breed known for its diminutive size, boasts an ancient and somewhat mysterious origin, with most theories pointing to Mexico as its birthplace, potentially descending from the "Techichi," a small companion dog of the Toltec civilization. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their small, compact bodies, large expressive eyes, and erect ears, appearing in both smooth and long-coated varieties, showcasing a vast array of colors and markings. Despite their tiny stature, Chihuahuas possess a big personality; they are often described as spirited, alert, and fiercely loyal to their owners, sometimes displaying a bold and confident demeanor. While their small size makes them exceptionally well-suited for apartment living, they thrive in homes where they receive ample attention and mental stimulation. They can be good family pets for older children who understand how to interact gently with a small dog, but their delicate build makes them less suitable for boisterous toddlers. Regarding health, Chihuahuas can be prone to certain conditions like patellar luxation, heart problems, and dental issues, making regular veterinary check-ups crucial for their well-being.
