GiGi is the kind of dog you know is special the moment you meet her. The second we spent time with her, we could tell — this is a good dog. She can be a little shy at first, but give her a minute and she melts right into you. GiGi absolutely loves to be touched, hugged, and loved on. Once she knows you’re her person, she’s all about the snuggles. GiGi is the total package: Great with other dogs (male and female!) Shares toys and food like a polite lady Easygoing and gentle Just wants to make her people happy House trained She came to us as an owner surrender after being found as a stray months ago. Unfortunately her previous home ended up with too many animals and couldn’t keep her. Through it all, GiGi has remained the sweet, loving, hopeful girl we met on day one. At about 45 pounds, she’s the perfect medium size for adventures, couch snuggles, and family life. Honestly? We think she would make an amazing family dog. GiGi is heartworm negative and ready to start her next chapter. All she needs now is someone to see what we saw immediately: ✨ A really, really good dog.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
