Description
Dog Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier. Hi there! My name is Theo and I am 2 years old. I am the sweetest boy with a big ole head! I love my people so much! My main goal is to please my people and cuddle with you and get all the attention I can! I love to accompany you. I do well with other dogs after a slow introduction and can comfortably play with them too once I know them! Staff took me to an adoption event and I did well with both male and female dogs as long as I was the one calling most of the shots. I loved each and every kiddo I saw and just wanted to hang around them. Volunteers with children come and walk me, and I am a good boy with them! I am food motivated and will do whatever you ask with a treat in hand. I already know how to sit and shake! Overall I am relatively calm and would prefer to nap around all day, but I do enjoy playing every once in awhile with toys and other dogs. My big flaw? I need a cat free home and I beg really cutely for food so you’re basically obligated to give me some… that’s all!Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at infoawlwarsaw if you have any questions about me! If not, stop by the shelter at 1048 S 325 E in Pierceton, IN 46562 to look at me! No appointments necessary!

Overview:
The American Staffordshire Terrier, often affectionately called an "AmStaff," is a breed with a fascinating history, originating in 19th-century England and later refined in the United States. Physically, they are medium-sized, muscular, and agile dogs, known for their powerful build and distinctive wide smile. Their short, stiff coat comes in a variety of colors and patterns. In terms of temperament, AmStaffs are generally intelligent, confident, and highly loyal to their families. They possess a strong desire to please and can be quite affectionate. While they can make excellent family companions and often get along well with children, early socialization and consistent training are crucial due to their strength and inherent protective instincts. They are adaptable and can thrive in various living situations, including apartments, as long as they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. Health-wise, they are generally robust, but some individuals may be prone to hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as certain heart conditions.
