Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Emmy is 5 years old, 55 lbs Emmy is the kind of dog who just loves life. She loves people, loves other dogs, and more than anything, she just wants to be close to her person and soak up all the attention she can get. Her absolute favorite place? Outside — exploring, soaking up the sun, eating a pupsicle and just being a happy dog. I believe she has lived her whole life outside so she is still adjusting to living in a home and learning what she can and can’t do. She is extremely food motivated and a quick learner. All she needs is someone to dedicate time to her and she will be trained in no time. Emmy is a fighter. She’s been through a lot, but she hasn’t let it change her sweet, loving spirit. She deserves a second chance at the life she’s always deserved — full of love, safety, and someone to call her own.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
