Meet Ricky — small in size, big in charm Named after animal loving comedian Ricky Gervais, our Ricky is a 28 lb Lab–German Shepherd mix with a heart every bit as lovable as his namesake’s advocacy. At just 1 to 1½ years old, he’s the perfect blend of youthful energy and tender sweetness. Ricky came to us a bit underweight, so he’s starting off with three meals a day to help him fill out. He’s already showing us what a bright, happy boy he is — and with a little extra nutrition, he’ll be feeling his best in no time. When meeting new people, Ricky likes to take a moment to warm up. A gentle greeting goes a long way with him. But once he decides you’re a friend, he transforms into a full on body leaning lovebug who will happily melt against you for affection. And don’t let his initial shyness fool you — Ricky is playful, fun, and ready to enjoy life. Whether it’s a romp in the yard, a silly game, or just hanging out with his favorite humans, he’s all in once he feels safe. Ricky is looking for a forever home that will give him kindness, patience, and plenty of love as he continues to grow into the wonderful dog he’s meant to be. They thrive on human interaction and do best in homes with a yard, as their energy levels make apartment living challenging without significant daily exercise. While generally healthy, potential health considerations include hip and elbow dysplasia, common to both parent breeds, and eye conditions. Early socialization and consistent training are key to fostering a well-adjusted Sheprador.
