Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Dachshund / Mixed (medium coat). Adoption Fee: 375. Meet CHURRO! The smallest of the Sweetest Treats litter (and the last born), Churro is the little brother you didn't know you needed. He has his mama's gorgeous looks and is a small package of big fun. He's a chiweenie (chihuahua/dachshund) type mixed breed boy. Churro is the most charismatic little busybody who tunes into all frequencies - especially the human one. His foster mama's favorite qualities are his darling flirtatiousness and intense desire to connect with people. He will stop what he's doing, wiggle his tail, and jump for joy until he gets petted or held. Once in your arms, he will cover your face with kisses. Churro not only wants to be seen, he wants to be heard - and will use his little chiweenie bark to get attention! His foster mama thinks Churro's mission is to bring sunshine into everyone's life. Churro has a feisty chiweenie nature and would be a delightful addition to a home with one or more small breed dogs to play with. A family with several humans who have a great sense of humor is an absolute must! Churro is a social guy and a little clown, so he'd love to have his people around a lot, meet new friends, and get frequent chances to play. Once he gets his "ya yas" out, Churro is a lap dweller. He is affectionate and craves physical touch, often seeking out his foster mama and climbing onto her lap. She very much hopes they keep his name since he comes running whenever she calls him Welcoming a lifetime of Churro kisses is a must, as he can't hold his licker! Churro is now 3 months old and tips the scales at 6 pounds. We expect him to grow up to be a 12ish pound adult dog. Churro needs to go to a home in the greater Cincinnati area in order to complete the vetting covered by his adoption fee. Tiny dogs like Churro are fragile, we prefer to send him to a home with no small children or large dogs. If you'd like to adopt Churro please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue. Churro will go to her furever home on a trial basis. His adoption will be finalized when all of the vetting covered by his adoption fee is completed. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current dogs and cats are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention.

Breed overview
Overview:
The Chiweenie, an adorable and increasingly popular designer breed, is a delightful cross between the spirited Chihuahua and the charming Dachshund. Originating in the United States, these small companions inherited a unique blend of traits from their parent breeds. Physically, they typically possess a long, low body reminiscent of the Dachshund, combined with the often-large ears and expressive eyes of the Chihuahua. Their coats can vary widely in color and texture, from short and smooth to long and wiry. Temperamentally, Chiweenies are known for being loyal, affectionate, and surprisingly energetic. They often exhibit a playful and sometimes stubborn streak, making early socialization and training beneficial. Their small size makes them well-suited for apartment living and families with older children or individuals seeking a devoted lapdog. While generally robust, potential health considerations include issues common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation and intervertebral disc disease, making regular veterinary check-ups important for their long-term well-being.
