Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog. Jeffy is a 12-week old Shepherd mix and a friendly ball of energy who doesn’t miss a beat. Weighing in around 12 pounds, this bundle of joy may be small now, but his personality is already larger than life! From the moment he arrived, he was curious and fearless, ready to explore new spaces, meet new people, and make new friends. The only thing that gives him pause? Walking through the door on a leash, but he’s working on it! He absolutely loves tug of war, wrestling with his foster buddy Nenee, chasing balls, and exploring everything around him. He will completely melt for belly rubs and happily soak up all the love you’re willing to give. Jeffy is great with other dogs and always wants to play with kids, but he will need supervision for mouthiness. He does not have experience with cats. He’s making steady progress with house training. He has good “tells” when he needs to go, but sometimes forgets his mission once the leash comes out. With consistency and patience, he’ll get there! He isn’t fully crate-trained yet, but he’s comfortable in his crate, snoozing there during the day and settling in with minimal fuss when crated for a few hours. If you’re looking for a sweet, fearless, toy-sharing, belly-rub-loving best friend, Jeffy is your guy. If you are interested in Jeffy, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling - pethavenmn/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/ The adoption fee is $550. Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
