Description
Dog Breed: Belgian Shepherd Malinois (short coat). Volunteer Notes: She hopped right into the car for her Doggy Day Out, though she seemed a bit nervous during the ride. Once we got going, she stayed very close and happily followed me everywhere I walked. She is a very high-energy dog and can jump very high, so sheâll likely do best with an active adopter who can give her plenty of exercise and help work on her manners. Sheâs also a bit of a counter surfer and will try to grab food if itâs within reach. With guidance and a treat, she was able to sit, but she will benefit from basic training to help her learn commands and boundaries. During our outing, she showed great behavior around other animals, she saw ducks but didnât chase them and was able to walk by other dogs without reacting. She is very affectionate and loves giving kisses, and if you stop petting her, sheâll gently nudge her head in to ask for more. One of the highlights of her day was enjoying a pup cup, which she absolutely loved.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
