Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Millie is about 8 yrs old. We adopted her in 2019. She craves attention from people. However, despite training over the years, she is still aggressive toward other animals and sometimes people. She is protective of my wife. Likely as part of her guarding behavior, she has nipped my heel twice and bit me once in the calf in the last two month. She is fine around people 95% of the time, but her behavior can be unpredictable. We now have two grandchildren and keep her is no longer sustainable. A year ago, she had surgery to remove cancerous spots removed from her side and on her privates. She recovered quickly and is healthy otherwise. We been using the same vet for awhile, so can provide any helpful medical records. **** Breed: Boxer/beagle/pit bull mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2194927&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
