Description

Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Hi there! I’m Roll. I’m a 21lb curious little 3 month old guy — the pup who wants to see everything, sniff everything, and be part of everything. Life is exciting and I’m here for all of it!I love to play and I’m always ready for a good wrestling match. Big dogs, my brother Flick, and even cats (if they’re up for it) make great playmates in my book. I’m quick on my feet and can keep up with just about anyone. Like most puppies, I’m still learning my best manners. I sometimes get a little excited and try to nibble during play, but I’m working on remembering that toys are for chewing — not people. I’m also still working on my potty training and leash training, so I’ll need a family that’s ready to keep helping me learn and grow. I’m a smart boy and just need consistency and patience.Because I’m such an active, playful pup, I’d do best in a home with a secure fenced yard where I can safely run, play, and burn off my puppy energy. When I’m not busy exploring or wrestling, I’m usually looking for my next adventure or someone new to be my friend. I’ve got a big personality in a little body and a lot of love to give. If you’re looking for a playful, curious pup who will keep you smiling and always ready for fun, I might be your guy. Interested in adding this sweet boy to your family? Roll is being fostered outside of Raleigh, NC.

German Shepherd Dog

A.K.A.: Alsatian, Alsatian Wolf Dog, Shepherd Dog, GSD, Deutscher Schäferhund, Schäferhund, Berger Allemand, Pastore Tedesco, Perro de Pastor Alemán, Alsatian Dog
Overview:

The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
