Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). Hi there! Skate's my name, and fetch is my game! Sometimes I forget to bring the ball back, but I sure love chasing it! I’m the bounciest bundle of joy you’ll ever meet! I came to MN from Missouri with 3 goals- Give surprise face kisses, hoard as many human slippers in my bed as possible, and grow into my big, floppy ears. I've already learned basic commands like "kennel", "sit" and "come". I've pretty much got the potty training thing down and I've learned how to ring a bell to let my foster mom know that I need to go outside to do my business. Sometimes I ring the bells just for fun because being outside is the BEST! I play hard, which means lots of naps, and I’d prefer to do that in someone’s lap. I LOVE to snuggle and be near my humans when possible. I sleep through the night in my kennel and can’t wait for my foster mom to wake up so I can get breakfast and start another full day of playing and learning new things. Sometimes when I'm lucky I get to meet new doggie friends and small humans, and I love them all so far! I've met some cats too and do just fine with them. I ride quietly in the car, hoping that wherever we are going includes a new adventure. My life motto? If you can’t eat it, play with it! If you can’t play with it, nap. I’ve got a big personality packed into my meaty little paws. One minute I’m zooming around having the time of my life, and the next I’m snuggled up close, soaking in all the love I can get. I’m friendly, curious, and always ready for my next adventure. If you’re looking for a fun, loving, and loyal companion—I’m your pup! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
