Description
Dog Breed: Chihuahua / Mixed (short coat). Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Frida #1 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Frida | 2-Year-Old Chihuahua Mix | Shy Little Blossom Frida is a 2-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua mix with a soft brown-and-white coat and the gentlest soul. She recently arrived from Kansas and is still learning that the world can be a safe, loving place. While she may be shy at first, once she feels secure, her sweet and affectionate nature begins to shine—she’ll happily accept pets, snuggle close, and has even started giving a few tentative kisses. Frida is making progress with house training and will use a pee pad when needed, especially if the door is closed. She’s learning to go outside regularly and does best with a consistent routine. She’ll often stand by the door when she needs to go out, though she may scamper back to her crate when approached—her crate is her safe space, and she finds a lot of comfort there. She’s doing great with kennel training and sleeps soundly through the night. She has a medium energy level and enjoys spending time outside, where she can run around and explore. Her adorable, slightly goofy gait—thanks to her long back legs—makes her especially endearing as she zooms around the yard. While she’s shown some curiosity about toys and enjoys car rides, she’s still building confidence and hasn’t quite figured out how to play just yet. Leashes are currently scary for Frida, so she has not yet been on a leashed walk. Because of this, she will need a home with a securely fenced yard where she can safely get her exercise while she continues to build confidence. Frida is still nervous around new people and dogs. She tends to observe from a distance and may hide or retreat when unsure, though she has not shown any aggression toward humans. She was frightened by a larger dog during a recent introduction, so she may do best as the only pet or with very slow, thoughtful introductions to calm, gentle dogs. Her ideal home is a quiet, patient environment where she can continue to build confidence at her own pace. With time, love, and understanding, Frida is sure to blossom into a deeply loyal and loving companion.
