Left Eye | 8-Year-Old Collie/Shepherd Mix | Gentle Companion Seeking a Cozy Home Left Eye is an 8-year-old Collie/Shepherd mix weighing about 30 pounds, with a beautiful black-and-white coat and a calm, gentle personality. She’s a quiet, sweet girl who enjoys a peaceful lifestyle and would be happiest in a home that appreciates slow days, cozy naps, and a loyal companion nearby. Left Eye is house trained and very easygoing in the home. If given the choice, she would happily spend most of the day curled up in her bed. She enjoys walks around the neighborhood and being with her person. While Left Eye has had generally calm interactions with other dogs and tends to ignore them, she would do best in a home as an only dog or with another dog who will also give her space. No cats, please. Left Eye can be shy at first, but with patience she warms up and becomes a gentle, affectionate companion who enjoys belly rubs and quiet time near her people. She also has a playful side and loves soft squeaky toys, often carrying them around the house, on walks and taking them to bed with her at night. Left Eye does initially demonstrate insecurity when left alone with whining and howling, but slowly easing into it creates more confidence and a sense of security. She would be happiest in a home where someone is home more often than not—someone who can give her the steady companionship and constant love she so deserves in her senior years. She doesn’t ask for much beyond love, patience, and a comfortable place to nap, and in return she’ll offer sweet companionship and a devoted heart. Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
