Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Adoption Fee: $500. New to DRM, stay tuned for more info!! Meet Bruno! This handsome blue Doberman is about 1.5 years old and ready to find his forever home. While his past is a bit of a mystery, one thing is crystal clear: Bruno is absolutely thriving now that he’s out of the shelter and soaking up the good life! Bruno is a total lovebug. He adores people, gets along great with dogs and kids, and greets everyone with full-body wiggles and his signature happy smile. Sit down for a second, and he’ll happily claim your lap—he’s a professional cuddler and would be thrilled to snuggle up beside you (or in your bed, if you allow it!) He’s the perfect mix of playful young Doberman energy and laid-back couch potato. Whether you’re out and about or relaxing at home, Bruno just wants to be part of the action. His motto? “Just happy to be here.” Bruno is making great progress with his training—he already knows sit, down, and stay, and is improving on leash manners while working on his heel. He can get a little too enthusiastic with greetings (those paws come up!), so he’s learning not to jump. Because of this, a home with older kids might be the best fit. He does well in his kennel for 4–6 hours and may whimper briefly when you leave, but settles quickly. Bruno is a sweet, loyal, Velcro boy who’s ready to give his whole heart to a forever family. Could that be you? Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
