Description
Dog Breed: Doberman Pinscher (short coat). Adoption Fee: $500. New to DRM, stay tuned for more info!! New to Doberman Rescue Minnesota. Bruno is a beautiful Blue Doberman who is ready to steal your heart (and probably your spot on the couch). He is estimated to be about 1.5 years old, and while his past is a mystery, one thing is certain: he is loving life outside the noisy shelter where he spent most of his life. Now all he needs is a loving home to call his own! Bruno loves people, dogs, and kids! He greets you with full-body wiggles and the happiest smile. If you sit down, don’t be surprised if he climbs right into your lap. He is a professional cuddler and would love nothing more than to curl up next to you and sleep in bed if you’ll let him! He’s the perfect mix of young Doberman energy and complete couch potato. He is happiest doing whatever you’re doing, he just LOVES to be included. Bruno truly has a “just happy to be here” attitude. He is working hard on his obedience training and so far he’s mastered sit, down, and stay. He does well on a leash but does need to occasionally be reminded not to pull so he’s working on heel. Who can blame him for being excited to explore the world?! We are working on not jumping because he does like greet you with his paws! Because of this, older kids may be best for him, so he doesn’t knock over little ones. He is learning that he doesn’t need to jump for affection and will listen as soon as he’s corrected. He does really well in his large kennel and is ok in there while we go to work for 4-6 hours. He will whimper and cry at first if he knows you’re leaving but settle very quickly. He is a sweet, loving, Velcro boy who is ready to start his life with his forever family! This fabulous foster is a Doberman Rescue Minnesota foster dog. Please read all adoption steps and policies carefully on our website. dobermanrescueminnesota/adoption-steps/ Qualified adopters are within the approved adoption area, and Adopter will be requested to visit this foster dog at the foster family home. Overview:
The Doberman Pinscher is a sleek and powerful breed originating from Germany in the late 19th century, specifically developed by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann for protection. Known for their striking, athletic build, Dobermans typically possess a short, glossy coat that comes in black, red, blue, or fawn, often with rust-colored markings. Their temperament is a fascinating blend of loyalty, intelligence, and alertness, making them exceptional guardians and devoted companions. While highly trainable and eager to please, they require early socialization and consistent training to channel their energy and protectiveness appropriately. Dobermans can thrive in active families who can provide ample exercise and mental stimulation, but their need for space and activity generally makes them less suitable for small apartment living unless exceptionally well-exercised. Regarding health, they are predisposed to certain conditions like Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), Von Willebrand's Disease, and Wobbler Syndrome, so responsible breeding and veterinary care are paramount.
