Breed overview
Overview:
The Havashu is an adorable and increasingly popular hybrid, a delightful cross between the gentle Havanese and the charming Shih Tzu. Originating from designer breed efforts to combine the best traits of both parents, these small companions typically inherit a soft, wavy to curly coat that can come in a vast array of colors and patterns, often requiring regular grooming to prevent matting. Physically, they are compact and sturdy, usually weighing between 7-15 pounds. Temperamentally, Havashus are known for being affectionate, playful, and intelligent, making them highly trainable and eager to please. Their loving nature makes them excellent family pets and their adaptability suits them well for apartment living, provided they receive adequate daily exercise and mental stimulation. While generally robust, potential health considerations can include conditions common to their parent breeds, such as patellar luxation, eye conditions, and respiratory issues, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups for a long, healthy life.
