Description
Dog Breed: Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed. Theo is not currently up for adoption at our shelter - instead we are helping his current caretaker, Kerri, by listing him as a Courtesy Listing in hopes we can help her find someone that will welcome Theo into their home! Kerri's contact info is down below for anyone potentially interested.... "This sweet boy is Theo - short for Theodore. he is a Aussie/Blue Heeler mix. Unfortunately circumstances for his owner have changed and I took him in to foster… I want to make sure we find him the perfect home. He is only 2.5 years old and the sweetest boy. He is a working breed and needs the structure of work. Very smart sweet boy Dog selective - But does great with slow proper introductions (he is doing great with his foster siblings) Would do best with a fenced in yard or farm No small children - He will try to herd them and possibly nip them. He is a working breed. Potty trained, kennel trained and working on basic commands with him. He is very very smart. Up to date on vaccines and neutered - Due in May and happy to help with cost of vaccines Has A LOT of energy so definitely needs an active home or someone who is willing to be patient and train him. Please help me find him the perfect family. I am happy to do meet and greets that works best for you!" Contact info: Kerri Cairy kerricairygmail 331-399-2112

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
