Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed. COURTESY POST – THIS IS NOT A PETRESQ DOG. PLEASE CONTACT OWNER FOR MORE INFORMATION. June is a 4 year old pitbull mix. She is spayed, housetrained and current on vaccine. June will need a home with no children or other pets. She has had 2 incidents with other dogs. June is a very affectionate and playful dog. She loves every human she meets and her favorite spot is on a lap or cuddling with her favorite people. June loves walks and requires a medium amount of exercise/enrichment each day, but will spend the rest of her time relaxing on the couch. She is food motivated and ahs worked with a trainer on most basic commands. Some of her other favorite activities include playing tug, fetch, laying under blankets, and following her humans around the house. June has worked with a trainer on leash walking and is generally well behaved, though she will pull occasionally when excited. June has lived in an apartment setting for two years so she does not require a yard. However, if there is a yard available it should be fenced in. June should not be off leash outside unless she is in a fenced in area given that she is very curious/will explore and is still working on her recall. She is crate trained and very comfortable staying in her crate, though in new places she might have an adjustment period. June is located in Brooklyn, NY You can contact Anna Quinn, amquinn12gmail, (203) 727-3348

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
