Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed (short coat). #A5757002 Meet Harold , a 6-year-old terrier mix with movie-star looks and an even sweeter personality. This gorgeous boy has a milky white coat splashed with warm, rich brown spots, including the most adorable patches over his eyes and ears. Harold is an absolute lovebug whose tail wags nonstop - especially when he’s getting attention and affection from our volunteers. He’s currently rocking a cone after getting a little ouchie on his snoot, but the scrape is healing nicely and he should be back to 100% in no time. Sadly, Harold was surrendered by his previous owner for being “too big”… but we think his perfectly medium size is just right, and given his age, he’s been full grown for years. What Harold really wants most now is a furever family to love, cuddle, and wag his happy tail for every single day. Will that be with you? -6 year old white and brown Terrier mix -54 pound neutered male -may need the standard round of shots and preventatives upon adoption, but the shelter can likely help with this! Also has a scratch on his nose, so currently in a cone, but healing nicely - may need to be adopted on a health waiver just in case; adopter to follow up with own vet for further diagnostics and potential treatment -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 2/20/26 as an owner surrender for being “too big”, despite being a perfectly average 50-something pounds, which he’s likely weighed for several years at this point, given his age -happiest tail wagger of a pup, always perky and engaged! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
