Description

Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). #A5757119 Meet Darla , a 3-year-old Siberian Husky with a perfectly floofy white coat tipped with the faintest hints of brown - like a soft marshmallow dusted with the lightest sprinkle of cinnamon. ✨ Her warm, gentle eyes tell a story, and they’ll melt your heart in seconds. Darla was sadly owner surrendered, which means she once knew the comfort of a home and the rhythm of daily routines. Because of that, she’ll likely thrive again with structure, regular playtime, and plenty of exercise in a loving furever home. The shelter environment has been a little overwhelming for her (understandably so), but with a little time, space, and lots of TLC, we know she’ll blossom and show her true personality. Darla is a sensitive, intelligent girl who will absolutely know when she’s been rescued. In return, she’ll reward her forever family with a lifetime of love, loyalty, and companionship. Will that be with you? -3 year old white and brown Siberian Husky -34 pound female - perfectly pocket sized! Not clear if she’s been spayed, which may need to be done upon adoption - but the shelter can likely help with this! -may also need the standard round of shots and preventatives before she can go home with you - but the shelter can likely help with this, too -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 2/21/26 as an owner surrender - unfortunately, her old family moved and left her behind -doesn’t have the best kennel presence, but she warms up quickly and beautifully and should shine bright once home with you! Siberian Husky

A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:

The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
