Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier. Meet Scarlett! Scarlett is an 8-month-old pit mix with a heart of gold and the absolute sweetest soul. It’s clear that life hasn’t always been kind to her before she arrived with us, but despite everything, she remains gentle, loving, and deeply devoted to people. For Scarlett, humans are her safe place. When she’s near someone she trusts, you can see her relief as she offers the softest kisses. The world can feel loud, fast, and a little scary for Scarlett. New things make her pause and take a moment to process, but with patience and kindness she’s slowly learning that not everything is so frightening. Scarlett has been okay around other dogs so far—she’s just a bit unsure about speedy movements or enthusiastic play. With the right role models and a loving family willing to give her time to blossom, Scarlett has all the potential to grow into an incredible companion....although we already think she is incredible! Scarlett has not had formal cat testing at this time. Current Weight: 54lbs Adoption fee: $325 To apply: fcrspca/adopt/

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
