Description
Dog Breed: Siberian Husky (medium coat). #A5758644 Say hello to Astrio , a 1-year-old Siberian Husky who’s practically pocket-sized for her breed - though she may still grow a little as she finishes maturing. ✨ This gorgeous girl is a total stunner, with a plush black-and-white coat like velvety whipped cream sprinkled with Oreo dust, and the most striking hints of natural “eyeliner” around her piercing light eyes. Astrio was sadly owner surrendered when her previous family had too many pets. Barely out of her puppy years, she truly deserves a family ready to give her the time, love, and guidance she needs to thrive. Because her early days may have lacked some puppy basics, Astrio would do best with a family willing to work on leash skills, potty training, basic commands and manners, and continued socialization with both people and other pups. The good news? She’s eager to please, and with the help of some yummy snackies, training can become a fun bonding experience for both of you! With patience and love, Astrio will blossom into an incredibly loyal and devoted companion. If you’re looking for a sweet pup to grow, learn, and share a lifetime of adventures with, Astrio just might be your girl! -1 year 1 month old black and white Siberian Husky -37 pound spayed female - practically a pocket husky! -may need the standard round of shots and preventatives before she goes home with you, but the shelter can likely help with this! -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 2/28/26 as an owner surrender, as her prior family had too many pets, and sadly chose Astrio to give up - how they could, we don’t understand! -a perfect blank slate in terms of training, so any work you put in to teach her will be richly rewarded with tangible growth and change -sweet, fun loving, and energetic, but a bit nervous at the shelter (understandably so!) - recommended for an adults only household, as she does not yet have the socialization needed to handle children, especially young ones that might be more rough or handsy and not respectful of her boundaries ASTRIO’S VIDEO: youtube/shorts/bkn0V-88Wwg For more information, contact volunteer Lor at lorunitedhopeforanimals ------- United Hope for Animals (UHA) is a volunteer group and does not have a facility for animals. Breed overview
Siberian Husky
A.K.A.: Husky, Arctic Husky, Chukcha, Chukchi, Chukchi Sled Dog, Sibe, Sibes, Sled Dog, Snow Dog
Overview:
The Siberian Husky is a striking and beloved breed, originating from Northeast Asia where they were bred by the Chukchi people for pulling sleds over long distances in harsh conditions. Physically, they are easily recognizable by their medium size, thick double coat (available in various colors and markings), and often captivating blue or bi-colored eyes. Their temperament is typically friendly, outgoing, and playful, making them generally good with children and other dogs. However, their independent and sometimes stubborn nature, coupled with a strong prey drive, means consistent training and secure containment are essential. While affectionate, their high energy levels and need for significant exercise make them less suitable for sedentary lifestyles or tiny apartments; a house with a securely fenced yard is often preferred. Health-wise, they are generally robust but can be prone to certain conditions like hip and elbow dysplasia and eye problems such as cataracts and progressive retinal atrophy. Overall, a Siberian Husky thrives with active families committed to meeting their exercise and mental stimulation needs.
