Description
Dog Breed: Terrier (medium coat). #A5759132 Meet Flanders , a 6-month-old terrier puppy with the most scruffy, muppet-like charm and a warm, rich coat in shades of brown, black, and tan. ✨ His big, liquid-brown eyes (like maple syrup!) and constant happy grin will steal your heart instantly! This energetic little guy is still very much a puppy and deserves more than the shelter can give - he needs attention, structure, and plenty of playtime to truly thrive. Flanders is bright, bouncy, and endlessly playful, soaking up every moment spent with our volunteers and eager to bond with his forever family. Despite his young age, he already knows some basic commands, and with his love of treats and eagerness to please, training will be a breeze. If you’re looking for a joyful, loyal companion who will grow and learn alongside you while filling your life with fun, Flanders is absolutely your boy! -6 month old black and brown terrier puppy -47 pound male - may need to be neutered upon adoption, but the shelter can likely help with this! -may also need the standard round of shots and preventatives before he can go home with you, but the shelter can likely help with this too -came to the Baldwin Park Animal Care Center on 3/2/26 as a stray -whip smart and eager to please, plus already knows some basic commands, so a refresh on the puppy basics should be a breeze - leash work, potty training, basic commands and manners, and continued socialization -super loving and such fun - always playful and will always bring a smile to your face! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
