Description
Dog Breed: Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat). Want to meet Mabel in person? Sheâll be at our PetSmart Adoption Event on Saturday, March 28th from 12-2 PM at: PetSmart Oxnard 2141 N. Rose Ave. Oxnard, CA (805) 288-8495 Come say hi and maybe take home your new best friend! Our offsite adoptions are only able to accept cash or check. Please note, when animals get adopted at one of our offsite pet store locations, our system may not update immediately. Please contact the pet store to ensure the animal(s) you are interested in are still available for adoption. Thank you! Momma Mabel, she has been such a good Momma to these babies who are voracious. And I'm so hopeful that someone wants to adopt her and treat her like a queen. She's been very friendly and non-reactive to kids and adults. She needs to learn some manners on a leash, but learns quickly. She loves walks. She is great in the car, too. She has shown some reactivity to dogs â not aggression. But she notices dogs and cats, for sure. We haven't let her get close to any, so I'm not sure if she's interested in being friends or fighting. She likes her toys, but hasn't ever been aggressive with them. She does not like sharing her food â but is also nursing and underweight, so she might just be protective now. She listens to commands â doesn't seem to know what to do, though. She'll look at me with her ears down as if to say `this?` ` is this what you want?`

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
