Description
Dog Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie / Mixed. Meet Alfie! Alfie is a one-year-old Yorkie/Terrier mix and 12 lbs of pure sweetness. This adorable little fluff is a big-hearted love bug who just wants to be by your side. Affectionate, loyal, and full of personality, Alfie thrives in a calm environment where he can relax and soak up all your attention—but don’t be surprised when he gets excited to meet new friends with happy jumps and lots of kisses! He’s great with people and, while he does well with other small dogs, he would truly shine as the center of someone’s world. Because he’s still polishing his manners (especially his enthusiastic greetings), a home with older children would be the best fit. Alfie is doing wonderfully with potty training and catching on quickly. He’s crate trained but prefers not to be left alone for long—this sweet boy would love a home where someone is around most of the time. He walks nicely on a leash, though squirrels and new friends can be very exciting! Car rides make him a bit nervous at first, but he settles in after a few minutes. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will shower you with love and be your constant sidekick, Alfie is your guy. Applications can be filled out at .piedmontanimalrescue/adopt! Please only apply if you are serious about adopting. Please also make sure your pets are up to date on you species applicable Vaccines (rabies, Distemper/Parvo, FVRCP, Bordetella), spayed/neutered, and on Heartworm prevention if a canine. The adoption fee includes their age appropriate vaccinations(DA2PP and Bordetella), Dewormer, spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test as well as the registration of their microchip information to you.

A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
