Description
Dog Breed: Boxer. My name is Mikaela. I was named after alpine skier Mikaela Shiffrin, who secured an Olympic gold medal in the slalom, In a way, I won gold too, getting saved by DFW Boxer Rescue. They got me out of that scary shelter and on to a good life. I'm little, but I'm fiesty and smart. I like to box, just like all Boxers, even though my foster mom says I'm a mix. Mixed with what, I'll never tell. A girl's got to have her secrets! I sleep through the night in my crate and only occasionally have an accident. I bark to tell foster mom when I want to go out. I love to play with toys and especially enjoy tug-of-war. Since I'm just a baby puppy, I am teething and foster mom says my teeth are SHARP!! I love that I get three meals a day here, and lots of love and hugs and pets. Mom won't let me play with my foster siblings yet - she says they're too big and might hurt me. But I want to. Oh, how I want to! I'm vocal and fun and have lots of love to give. I'm looking for a forever home who has the time for an energetic puppy. Someone who will teach me how to be the best girl and will love me the rest of my life. If you think that might be you, please put in an adoption application and maybe we could meet.

Overview:
The Boxer is a medium-sized, short-haired dog breed of German origin, known for its distinctive appearance and vibrant personality. Physically, Boxers possess a strong, athletic build with a characteristic square head, an undershot jaw, and often a docked tail and cropped ears (though these practices are becoming less common). Their short, glossy coat typically comes in fawn or brindle, often with white markings. Temperamentally, Boxers are renowned for being incredibly loyal, intelligent, and energetic, making them fantastic companions for active families. They thrive on human interaction and can be playful and patient with children, making them excellent family pets. While their energy levels require regular exercise, their adaptability means they can adjust to apartment living if their activity needs are consistently met. However, potential owners should be aware of certain health considerations, including a predisposition to some cancers, heart conditions like cardiomyopathy, and hip dysplasia, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary check-ups.
