If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at .arf-il/adopt/application/ Harper is a 3 month old female Great Pyrenees who weighs in at 23 pounds. This pup's adoption fee is $850. If you are still interested, please read more below. Harper is a sweet-tempered girl who likes to snuggle when she is finally ready to stop playing HARD with her brother!! She is sleeping through the night in the crate after a settling down period. Harper seems to understand potty is to be accomplished outside. She is always ready for a pet - especially if her brother is getting one. Her fur is super soft. Harper is a typical puppy! This pup is micro-chipped and up to date on all vaccinations. Given this pups large breed status, it is best for the health of the dog to wait to spay until 6 months of age. At that point, ARF will cover the cost of a basic spay at one of our vet partners. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL. The Great Pyrenees is a majestic and ancient breed, originating in the Pyrenean mountains between France and Spain, where they served as formidable livestock guardians. Physically, they are large, powerful dogs, easily recognized by their thick, double coat, typically white (though sometimes marked with badger, grey, or tan), and a distinctive "double dewclaw" on their hind legs. Despite their imposing size, their temperament is generally calm, gentle, and remarkably patient, making them excellent companions. They possess a natural protectiveness, which translates to a watchful eye over their families and property. While loving and tolerant with children, their size and barking tendencies make them less suited for small apartment living; a home with a yard is ideal.
