Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. Tammy is the perfect little adventure buddy and cuddle companion all in one! This little low-rider girl is full of energy and curiosity, always ready to explore, play, and be a part of whatever you’re doing. She’s definitely a “Velcro dog” who loves being by your side, and she hasn’t met a stranger yet, whether human or animal. From toddlers to adults, and other dogs too, she is gentle and sweet. Tammy is super smart and eager to learn, already figuring out treat puzzles and picking up on routines quickly in her foster home. She’s making great progress with potty training, especially when kept on a consistent schedule, and is working on her crate training though does not currently enjoy it. She does great on leash walks, though expect a bit of pulling-- she's just so excited to get moving! Walks, playtime, and mental enrichment are a MUST for this high-energy girl, but once she's tired out she loves nothing more than curling up on the couch and soaking up all the snuggles. (She’d happily share your bed if you let her!) She would do best in a home where she gets plenty of attention and exercise, so you’re looking for a fun-loving pup who will keep you active and then cuddle up close at the end of the day, Tammy's your girl! Tammy is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, dewormed, and started on monthly flea/heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $300. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
