Description
Dog Breed: Unknown breed. Rupert is a loyal loving cuddly little human trapped in a dog’s body. He is highly intelligent (understands commands like sit stay role over and get the toy). Rupert is full of energy and love. And will follow you to the ends of the earth. He once saved my life from a house fire (true story) and I wouldn’t want anyone else to by my side if I had to ride into battle. I love Rupert and it’s because of the infinite amount of love loyalty and respect he has. Despite his dog like shape he is still friend shaped. Take one look into his eyes and you will no doubt see for yourself why he deserves a good home. **** Breed: Red Heeler mix **** Pet Link: .nokillnetwork/adoption/pet_detail.php?petid=2195567&flag=1

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
