Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Licorice was absolutely delightful on her day trip with the Blue Note Woodchuckers Run Club! She's a super cute teddy bear muppet with fur like the silky tail of a black stallion and the joyful, friendly personality of a Golden Retriever. She was a great car companion â calmly staying in her seat and even taking a nap during the ride. Out on the adventure, Licorice greeted people of all ages with friendly curiosity, and met every dog with a polite sniff, sometimes adding a playful bow (or an enthusiastic jump). At such a young age, it's clear Licorice will thrive with plenty of enrichment, activity, and adventures to keep her bright mind busy. She was friendly with all dogs and humans and made quite the impression on everyone she met! So come and be impressed... To make an appointment, go to yoloshelter/dogs or email adoptyoloshelter.

Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
