Description
Dog Breed: Basset Hound (short coat). Adoption Fee: $500.00. Otis is a 4 year old pur bred Basset Hound. Until recently, he was raised by a super loving family that had to make the heart-breaking decision to rehome him. They realized between their schedules and two young childen, under the age of two, they physically couldn't give the attention and time that Otis deserved. That said, he's wonderful with humans, children, and other dogs. Otis has a very chill and loving temperment, enjoys walks and is great on a leash. He listens and obeys. He needs (and gives) a lot of love and displays some separation anxiety when the humans leave the house. He weighs 75 pounds but we feel it is mainly bone mass, although, he is a big boy. Otis is neutered and completely vetted, with up to date preventives. Housebroken with no accidents to date and will even wake you up if he needs to go potty. Ask us how we know. Otis is the quintessential Basset Hound and would make an excellent family member for anyone lucky enough to adopt him!

Overview:
The Basset Hound is a charming and distinctive breed, originating in France as a scent hound primarily used for hunting hare and rabbit. Easily recognized by their long, droopy ears, sad-looking eyes, and short, sturdy legs, they possess an incredibly powerful sense of smell. Despite their somewhat mournful expression, Bassets are known for their gentle, laid-back, and affectionate temperament, making them wonderful companions for families. They are generally good with children and other pets, though their stubborn streak and loud baying bark require consistent training. While they can adapt to apartment living with sufficient daily exercise, their tendency to follow their nose means a secure yard is essential. Potential owners should be aware of common health concerns such as ear infections due to their long ears, back issues, and bloat. Overall, the Basset Hound is a loyal and loving, if sometimes comically determined, addition to many homes.
