Description
Dog Breed: English Mastiff. Meet Octavia also called Tavi. Octavia is a big girl with an even bigger heart. Since being rescued from the shelter, she’s proven herself to be the perfect houseguest—gentle, loving, and so grateful for a second chance. Affectionately known as Tavi, she’s ready to leave her past behind and find a forever home where she can truly shine. She just needs someone to give her that chance… and we know she’ll give a lifetime of love in return. Due to Tavi's neglect, she had a severe eye infection when we rescued her from the shelter on the euth list. Unfortunately, we were unable to save her eye but that doesn't stop her one bit! Please note we do not usually adopt outside of San Diego County and surrounding areas.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
