Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. This is a courtesy post for the owner of this dog. You will not be adopting from Castle of Dreams Animal Rescue. Please contact directly through the email info provided below. Lexi is in need of a new loving home. She is a 15 year old Bichon/Yorkie mix and is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and has been vet checked. Unfortunately her owner is very ill and can't care for her any longer. Her neighbor has been caring for her since October so that she is not completely alone but things have gotten worse for her owner and she may require a transplant. Sadly the neighbor cannot take her into her home because she has other pets that have health conditions. So her current caregiver is reaching out to see if anyone would be interested in adopting Lexi. She is a sweet, kind and gentle dog. All she needs is food, water and walks. She deserves love and care. Her owners are considering giving her up to a rescue but a loving home where she can spend the rest of her days being comfortable and providing someone else joy and companionship is what would be best. If you are interested in adopting Lexi, please send Paige a private message via email at pmvb999aol. She is located in East Brunswick, NJ.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
