Description
Dog Breed: Jindo (Korean) / Mixed (medium coat). Silver has been waiting for a fresh start since January after being surrendered to the shelter, and the stress of long-term kennel life has become increasingly difficult for him. He was briefly adopted, but unfortunately returned when he was unable to adjust to living with a cat. Since returning to the shelter, Silver has struggled to fully settle back in and has become more overwhelmed by the constant noise and confinement of the kennel environment.Even with the stress he is experiencing, Silver has shown that he is capable of coexisting with other dogs and is considered dog tolerant. Outside of the kennel environment, there is a dog who simply needs the opportunity to decompress, feel secure, and rebuild his confidence in a calmer setting. Like many dogs who spend extended time in the shelter, Silverâs behavior appears heavily impacted by stress and lack of stability rather than a lack of potential. Silver is in needs a home that is willing to give him structure, understanding, and time to adjust at his own pace. With consistency and compassion, Silver has the potential to thrive outside of the shelter and become a wonderful companion.

Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
