Description
Dog Breed: Terrier / Mixed. *Name: Nicky *Age: approx 5.5 years old *Current Weight: 24 lbs *Adoption fee: $300 Meet Nicky! Nicky is a gentle, sweet terrier mix with a soft soul and a heart that just needs a little time to feel safe. He may be shy when you first meet him, but once he warms up, his quiet affection and loving nature truly shine. Nicky is deeply bonded with his best friend, Sally—they lean on each other for comfort and confidence, and it’s incredibly special to watch. Because of this, they are looking for a home together where they can continue to thrive side by side. He does well with other dogs and is good with kids, but would do best in a calm, quiet home without very young children. Nicky is the kind of pup who doesn’t ask for much—just patience, understanding, and a cozy spot to feel safe. If you’re looking to open your heart and home to two sweet souls who will blossom with love, Nicky (and Sally!) are waiting for you! Breed overview
Overview:
A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
