Description
Dog Breed: German Shepherd Dog (medium coat). Meet Slim — the tender-hearted old soul wrapped in a puppy’s body. He’s just over 16 weeks and 33 lbs.Slim may hang back for a moment when meeting someone new, but don’t mistake that for lack of personality. Beneath that slightly shy introduction is a gentle, goofy boy just waiting to feel safe enough to show you his fun side. Once he warms up, he’ll happily trot over for cuddles, shower you in kisses, and curl up in your arms like he was made to fit there. He’s sensitive to loud sounds and big commotion, so he thrives in a calmer environment where he can relax and be himself. Very young children and fast, unpredictable movement can make him nervous, so he would do best in a home with older, more respectful kids who understand how to move gently around him. Slim has a playful curiosity — especially when it comes to the cat. He’ll need a bit more guidance and practice to learn calm, appropriate manners with feline friends. He’s also still figuring out that chickens are not toys. The wonderful thing? He listens beautifully. Corrections are taken to heart, and he adjusts quickly, due to this he does not need a fenced in yard. He’s incredibly food motivated, eager to learn, and already has a solid recall. Training this boy will feel less like work and more like teamwork. With a lower energy level, Slim is perfectly content to quietly entertain himself in his open kennel or stay close to his person. He doesn’t demand the spotlight — he just wants a safe place to land and someone to love. If you’re looking for a soft-natured companion who blossoms with patience and rewards you with loyalty, kisses, and the occasional playful burst of joy, Slim is ready to tiptoe right into your heart Slim is being fostered just outside of Aiken SC. Overview:
The German Shepherd Dog, a truly iconic breed, originated in Germany in the late 19th century, primarily for herding sheep. They are easily recognizable by their athletic, medium-to-large build, typically weighing between 50-90 pounds, with a distinct double coat that can be black and tan, sable, or solid black. Known for their intelligence and loyalty, German Shepherds possess a remarkably trainable and courageous temperament, making them exceptional working dogs in fields like police and service work. While generally good with families when properly socialized, their high energy levels and need for mental stimulation make them unsuitable for apartment living without significant daily exercise. Prospective owners should be aware of common health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, as well as degenerative myelopathy, underscoring the importance of responsible breeding and regular veterinary care.
