Dog Breed: Hound / Mixed (short coat). Adoption Fee: 400. I am Buster, a 10-month-old bundle of curiosity, charm, and growing confidence. I'm 44 pounds of Pyrenees, Shepherd, and Hound mix and am very much a puppy at heart. My doctor says I'm probably as big as I will get. I LOVE other animals (dogs, cats) & kids of all ages because I just want to play. I'm 100% potty trained and will ring a bell to let you know it's time to go outside. I haven't mastered going potty while walking on a leash yet however at my foster home, I only go in one spot in the yard. I am at that perfect age where I'm soaking up everything—learning routines, commands, building trust, and discovering how fun it is to be part of a family. I'm equal parts explorer and cuddle-seeker, happy to trot alongside you on a walk or settle in for some well-earned snuggles afterward. With my gentle spirit and eager-to-please attitude, I am the kind of dog who just needs a little guidance and a lot of love to truly shine. I'm already well on my way to becoming a loyal companion who will stick by your side through every adventure, big or small. Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. A mongrel, mutt, or mixed-breed dog, is a dog that is not the result of breeding within an existing breed or to modify or create a breed and belongs to no breed. In the United States, the term "mixed-breed" is a favored synonym over "mongrel" among many who wish to avoid negative connotations associated with the latter term. The implication that such dogs must be a mix of defined breeds may stem from an inverted understanding of the origins of dog breeds. Pure breeds have been, for the most part, artificially created from random-bred populations by human selective breeding with the purpose of enhancing desired physical, behavioral, or temperamental characteristics. Dogs that are not purebred are not necessarily a mix of such defined breeds. Therefore, among experts and fans of such dogs, "Mongrel" is still the preferred term.
